Nominate the next Honorary Survivor Chair for the QC Race for the Cure

September 5th,  2017—DAVENPORT, IA—Nominees are now being accepted for Honorary Survivor Chair of the 29th Annual Quad Cities Race for the Cure.  This honor will be awarded to a participating supporter of the event and a survivor of breast cancer, the nation’s 2nd leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women.

Eligible individuals must be a breast cancer survivor of at least two years, have participated in the Quad Cities Race for the Cure, be enthusiastic about the cause, and have an optimistic attitude and passion for helping others in the community.  The position will require working as a member of the Race committee, time and effort to participate in interviews during the day and evening hours, and willingness to share personal experiences.

“The purpose of this position is to spread hope to breast cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment in the greater Quad Cities, and also inform all women about the importance of early detection,” said Jenny Brinkmeyer, Executive Director,  Komen Greater Iowa. “The Honorary Survivor Chair represents all of those who have experienced breast cancer, and she will diligently work to rally others to participate in Race for the Cure and to support Komen’s mission,” Brinkmeyer said.

The 29th  Annual Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2018. The annual event is the Quad Cities’ largest 5k and is one of the now four Race for the Cure events in the Komen Greater Iowa service area.
