Board Feature: Jessica Kramer
We are doing board member introductions this week, featuring Jessica Kramer, a real estate agent living in the Grimes area. Jessica helps buyers find their dream home and helps sellers find buyers so they can move on to a new home! Get to know a little more about her below.
Why did you get involved in Susan G. Komen Greater Iowa’s board?
I got involved with Susan G. Komen because I was diagnosed with breast cancer 11 years ago at the age of 31. I went through chemo and radiation and thought I was done with cancer and could move on with my life. Unfortunately the cancer keeps coming back so I have to be proactive so that I can fight this disease before it strikes again. I wanted to help others going through cancer and help them realize that cancer does not define you. You can beat it and you can live a normal-ish life.
How have you been affected by breast cancer?
I am a 11 year ongoing survivor. I have stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
What excites you about the work of Susan G. Komen Greater Iowa?
That they help people with treatment that they may not have gotten before. That they help those here in Iowa and help with research.
How can people get involved with the SGK?
There are many ways to get involved with Susan G. Komen. You can volunteer on one of our committees, you can volunteer at Race for the Cure, you can donate, you can walk in support, you can get yearly mammograms, and you can tell your friends and family to get their mammograms.
Thank you Jessica for sharing more about you! We are so grateful you are part of our community.
