Our Mission: At Susan G. Komen Greater Iowa our mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Our Vision: A world without breast cancer.
Our Affiliate: Komen Greater Iowa is dedicated to supporting the fight against breast cancer through education, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship care throughout our service area. Our Affiliate is financially supported by funds raised through the Komen Greater Iowa Race for the Cure series, which hosts events in Des Moines, Sioux City, Ottumwa and Moline. Our Affiliate also raises funds through other Komen-supported events, such as a golf outing and Pink in the Rink, individual and corporate donations, special breast cancer awareness license plates, third-party special events, and memorial or celebration contributions.
Our Service Area: Komen Greater Iowa serves 106 counties, including the entire state of Iowa as well as Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Whiteside Counties in Illinois, Dakota and Thurston Counties in Nebraska and Union County in South Dakota.
Our Impact: Through a competitive grant process, we are able to provide funding to hospitals, clinics and agencies to promote a continuum of care for those seeking breast health and breast cancer services. The continuum of care begins with education about the need for early detection, followed by screening, diagnostic services, treatment and post-treatment care. Learn more about the programs we fund
